This is a themed version of our member regaw_leinad’s 2.1 ROM he’s created.

Due to the Sprint HTC Evo coming out on June 4th and this developer’s purchase of it, DamageControl will no longer be updated for the Sprint HTC Hero, but this is the final build that he did release after the actual Android 2.1 release was finally rooted.

In version 2.09 the following changes were made, all coming from v2.08 and prior versions:

• All current tweaks moved from v2.08 to v2.09 onto the final Android 2.1 build
• Live Wallpapers (with almost everything removed)
• Helix Launcher included (because of signing issues with launcher.apk)
• Added a new DConfig, which fixed many bugs
• Fixed Lockscreen (Go into DConfig and disable stock lockscreen)
• Custom music.apk with great widgets and fixes the music button in vanilla lockscreen
• ROM is deodexed for any theming

It is recommended that you wipe Data, Dalvik-Cache if you’re coming from a leak build (DC v2.08 or earlier)

This ROM is an update from the previous DamageControl version. The main changes in this version are as follows:

Has a new DConfig tweaker tool, you can change certain settings on the phone to your heart’s desire.
Now has a Theme Server – Change your theme on the fly!
A2SD is beefed up, but if there’s any errors, please post here.

Also, since we did not cover the release of versions 2.07 and 2.07.2 from Damageless, here are the changes that occured there, too!

Remember to do a Nandroid backup before you flash this ROM!

This update can be flashed over your existing installation of DamageControl, but if you run into any issues such as a boot loop or anything, please wipe your phone, clear Dalvik-Cache, and try again!

This ROM is from regaw_leinad, who is also a member here on Market 4 Android. This ROM is unthemed, and you’ll be able to find a teaser screenshot below. This ROM is for the HTC Hero, CDMA only. THis ROM is extremely optimized, and it’s rather small at 17MB less than DamageControl. Everything works in this ROM except Mobile Network Sharing if you’re on PRI 1.70_003. Right now, if you want to use, MNS, you still have to pay Sprint to use it. There’s other ways to tether your phone to your computer, though, so just do a search here if you don’t know how yet.

So, on to the ROM stuff! I am going to post the installation guide wrote by regaw_leinad, word for word with no modifications. Here we go!

STEPS FOR FLASHING (for optimal google & facebook sync)
1. Wipe and Flash RegawMOD v2.1
2. Boot up
3. Sign into Google/Exchange/Mail
3.5 If an SU request comes up, say Always Allow (it’s AutoKiller)
4. SKIP signing into Facebook
5. Finish and let it load the Homescreen
6. Wait until The sync icon in the taskbar dissappears to do anything.
6.5 Reboot (forgot this step too, too lazy to change 7-16 lol)
7. Once gone, to set up Facebook Sync, go to Settings > Accounts & sync > Add account.
8. Click on Facebook For HTC Sense.
9. Sign in
10. It will show the sync icon for a small amount of time.
11. Go to the homescreen and click on people
12. Slide over to updates and events (you will see none yet)
13. Do the “Regaw Brute” method: Click menu > refresh 5 times quickly (so menu > refresh, menu > refresh….. 5 times)
14. Let your Hero sit for up to 15 minutes on this screen, letting the screen turn off.
15. If after about 15-20 minutes, all of your pictures aren’t synced, repeat steps 13 and 14 again.
16. Repeat step 15 if neccesary

(ps you can be plugged in while doing this. :P)
The reason I’m having you do this is because the memory killer settings are set pretty aggressively, so It probably just kills facebook for the HUGE initial sync.
Follow the steps listed above and everything should sync fine :)

FIXES:
-If your HTC Widgets aren’t on the homescreen at first boot, go to:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > HTC Sense > Clear Data

-Enable VVM: Settings > Call > Voicemail Service > My Carrier

-Before asking about SuperUser not working, make sure USB Debugging is Checked ON

DOWNLOAD DamageControl 2.06 Lite

I’ve worked on this latest release of DamageControl 2.06 and I am proud to present to you my Lite version!

Basically, so you know exactly what I’ve done, read the following:

I have not changed any other code inside of this ROM except for the default apps that install with DC 2.06. These apps include the following:

Stocks
Stock Widget
Sprint Navigation
HTC Twitter
Twitter Widget
EPST
Flickr
HTC Navi Panel
HTC Ringtone Trimmer
Sprint NFL
Sprint Nascar
Sprint TV
Sprint TV Widget

Instead of completely removing these apps, with special help from regaw_leinad from XDA, we were able to get this ROM to load all of the above named apps to your SD card. They’re not installed on the phone at all, so you have complete control over which ones you want to install and which ones you don’t want at all.

I’ve also added an app called APK Installer, which will let you install any of the apps that I removed from the ROM. APK Installer will install automatically when you flash this ROM. Once your Hero boots after flashing DC 2.06 Lite, you can go into your apps drawer and select APK Installer, then click on Install. All of the apps I removed from the actual install are in here. The actual files are located in your SD card, inside the /download/ folder. If you’re not going to use one or more of the apps in there, ever, it is safe to remove them completely from the SD card.

Now, you WILL need to wipe data and dalvik before flashing this ROM. Also, make a nand backup just in case!

Nothing else was changed in this ROM aside from the above mentioned, and this ROM will still work with Damageless’s DCUpdater app!
