If you haven’t already done so, you may want to consider reserving your piece of Super AMOLED-packing beauty through Radio Shack, where you not only get to skip the mail-in rebate making the phone $199 up front on a two-year contract, but you will also receive a $50 gift card towards other purchases at the Shack. Not a bad deal if the Vibrant is in your future, and if you’re a T-Mobile customer looking for the most powerful phone they have to offer that is most likely the case.

I’ve found quite a bit of information while checking into the HTC EVO again, and you’ll be thrilled to know that today’s the day that Sprint employees are beginning to train on the new WiMAX phone. Rumors have the phone pegged for a June 6th launch. With employees already training, that date not only looks possible, but very likely. However, I was unable to find any sort of release date confirmation. For all we know, Sprint may decide to launch the device next week at their event in New York City.

A screenshot I looked at earlier also showed that Radio Shack will be offering a pre-purchase option of the EVO coming up later on this month, so that is looking pretty promising, too!

Unlike the leaked promotional stuff from Radio Shack, this stuff is from actual training material. Yes, the device will come pre-loaded with Sprint specific apps. From the language of the materials, it seems that the EVO 4G will require special rate plans. This especially applies for use of the phone’s mobile hotspot functionality.

Interestingly, you’ll see that Sprint Navigation is present on the device. It’s unclear what this means for Google Maps Navigation. Let’s hope that both are there and Sprint didn’t decide to strip out native Android apps.

So far, we’ve discovered from informational sources that the following will be true about the EVO:

Hotspot feature will support WEP and WPA encryption
FM radio is a go
Google Navigation and Sprint Navigation are both present
Reset and recovery menus are navigated with the volume rocker which is good to know if you’re a modder

That’s right! The Sprint HTC EVO is coming in the summer, and I am excited beyond belief to get this bad boy in my hands! I’ve done a little bit of research, and you guys won’t believe what this thing can do! If you want to see what the Sprint HTC EVO looks like, check out the post I made titled Photos of the Sprint HTC Hero.

This is Sprint’s first 4G phone, and the first 4G phone to be released in the United States, so this is quite a milestone here. If you’re not familiar with 4G, picture this: 10x faster download speeds for your mobile internet, enabling you to watch HD videos and browse the web faster than ever, from the hottest Android phone to hit the world! Average speeds for 3G currently are 600kbps to 1.7MBPS. The 4G that’s already made it’s way to over 25 markets nationwide as of this post, averages a blazing 3-6Mbps… hot, isn’t it? What those numbers translate to is for 3G: you’ll see from 48 kilobytes per second up to 136 kilobytes per second (which is what I average here in Ohio); with 4G you’ll see from 240 kilobytes per second up to 750 kilobytes per second. These are estimated calculations of speeds you will actually see when downloading something.

Right into the features of the Sprint HTC EVO we go! First off, it has an HDMI output on it, so you can stream HD video right to your TV! Tell me that isn’t badass! It works in both the 3G and 4G markets, so you don’t have to worry about a complete loss of internet service if you leave a 4G area. It’s going to be available only on Sprint, because they kick ass regardless of what anyone says ;) This bad boy has a whopping 4.3″ screen, so you can actually see what you’re doing on your phone or on the web. It also has two cameras, including an 8 MegaPixel camera, which if I am not mistaken, is the highest quality camera to be put in a phone to date. It has a Mobile Hotspot capability, so you can connect up to 8 wifi enabled devices to it to rock on the 4G internet too! (3G as well). It has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, so it’s going to be a really snappy phone and very responsive! You’ll also be able to shoot and upload videos to the web, instantly! How hot is that?

Some more technical features you may want to know are listed below!

Android 2.1 Will Come Pre-Installed

( for those of us who mod our phones, we already know Android 2.1 is the best yet!)

HTC Sense is installed, which is also found on the HTC Hero for example. Makes social networking and much more, a breeze!

1500 mAh battery. (Personally I think ti should be more, but that’s me)

2 Cameras. One 8 MP on the back, and a 1.3MP on the front for video chat, self videos you can upload, and other endless possibilities!

GPS Navigation

Bluetooth Stereo Audio

MicroSD Card slot, supports up to a 32GB card!

3.5mm (standard-size) headphone jack, and a micro-USB port

Proximity and motion sensors

Digital Compass

It’s got a freakin’ kickstand! Bout time they implement that for us TV and Youtube watchers!!!!!

Mobile HDTV Capability

Download, view, edit and share HD content right from your EVO

You can display pictures, slides, and videos at HD quality (720p)

Multi-messaging capabilities: E-Mail, Text, and IM

Social Networking Installed: Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and more!

Live video sharing on Qik!

FM Tuner

and much more!

Overall I am drooling over the HTC EVO, and I am sure by now you are, too! The more information I find, I will post it here! Feel free to discuss this bad boy below! I want to hear your thoughts!
