We’re going to help you back up your phone, its apps and data, before you root your phone, wipe the device, or whatever it is you plan to do to your phone. First off, you will need to download 2 files, located here.

Once you download the 2 files, follow the next steps below. If you do not have the Android SDK installed, you’ll need to follow the guide on How To Install Android SDK. It opens in a new window so you can come back here when finished.

If you already have the SDK installed, then move the 2 files you just downloaded into your C:\Android\platform-tools folder.

Once those files are moved, plug your phone into your computer using the provided USB cable. Make sure USB debugging is enabled, as well as the option to install applications from unknown sources.

Open a command prompt, and type in the following commands:

cd C:\Android\platform-tools
adb install com.rerware.android.MyBackupPro.apk
adb install AppMonster-Pro-1.7.0.apk

Unplug your phone now. You’ve installed the 2 backup apps we have provided for you. Go into your app drawer, open up AppMonster. When that app opens, back up all your applications. Once that is finished, open MyBackup Pro. Press NO to the screen asking you to update, then press BACKUP. Press DATA. Check all. Then back it all up. Now, you’re finished with your backups and are able to restore your applications and data when you get done doing whatever you need to do.

To restore, follow this guide from the beginning, to reinstall the apps to your phone, then use the RESTORE options instead of the backup options. Enjoy!

For all of your backup needs, from SMS to apps to everything that is inside of your phone, Titanium Backup is an excellent application for you to use. With Titanium Backup, you can benefit from the following features: Backup and Restore Regular Apps and Settings, Backup and Restore Protected Apps and Settings, Backup and Restore System Settings, Backup and Restore Wifi Settings, Restore Market Links when you Restore Apps, a Zero Click Batch Backup (can be done in background), Other Batch Backup Settings, and a beautiful App Uninstaller and System App Uninstaller.

By far, this is one of the best applications for backup and restore of items on your phone. This is very useful if you flash a lot of ROMs or if you’re one of the people who could almost die if you lose everything in your phone for some reason. With the free version of Titanium Backup, you can only have one backup point on your phone at any point in time, but with the paid version that limit is removed, as well as unlimited scheduled backups, from 1 to 7 per week!

This is only just a portion of what Titanium Backup can do! It can also freeze your apps, the paid version can fix broken Market Links to apps, desktop widgets, batch verification of backups, and so much more! I don’t want to spoil you with all the features of both the free and paid versions, but I’ll give you the link directly to the site where you can download Titanium Backup (desktop link) or (market link) right now!
