The Facebook Chat app for the HTC Evo is something that’s becoming very popular, so I’ve decided to write up a little article about it. With the following app – Go!Chat, you’ll be able to chat instantly, after installing the application, with your friends on Facebook, right from your Android phone! Cerulean Studios have recently taken information and publicity to their blog and offered up some good news — a brand new, first version of Trillian is coming to Android! For those who may not be familiar with the Trillian name, its an all-in-one instant messaging application that allows the user to chat with friends on services to include Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Facebook, AIM, Windows Live and more.

As of now a release date has not been announced. That said, there were a few screen shots offered up and they look to be nice. In terms of the initial release, that was noted as being ‘a few weeks away’ and will be a beta version. Here is what we can expect in regards to the features:

• Synchronize your contacts, avatars, status, accounts and more with your Trillian-enabled desktop or mobile apps
• Contact list sorting, grouping, metacontacts support, privacy settings and various ways to organize
• Set status, avatar and display name quickly in one simple screen
• Tabbed chat windows with bubble view, photo transfer, buzz and emoticon support

Of course, the usual goodies that you would expect to find in an Android application will also be included such as the ability to receive updates while the app is running in the background as well as support for a wide variety of devices. Basically, Trillian will support devices running Android 1.6 or later.

So, I was running a little voting thread on a forum over the past few days, and someone mentioned this app, called TiKL. It can be found in the market using that exact search query, or you can download it here. What this app does is it uses your data connection to essentially “chirp” like Boost Mobile and Nextel users can do now. There’s virtually no lag in the transfer, and the voice comes out nice and clear on the other end. This application is still in beta stage, so there are still features to be added to it, but they’ll come over time. I’e uploaded the current version of this application. This version of the application replaces the regular “ding dong” annoying sound that most people do not like, and adds the ‘Nextel beep’ for people who have ever heard of that. If the app does not install when you uninstall the old version, make sure you’re using the same file manager to install that you used to uninstall the old version.

This does not communicate with Nextel phones. The name was used to describe the sounds that are produced when chirping.
