Today I’d like to show you guys a pretty cool Android puzzle app called Color Link. This game is brand new from SillyCube, who has developed other cool games that we have covered such as Popies and Break It!. Color Link is a cute game that requires you to really think compared to others. It has several different game modes, such as bomb mode, where you have to match a row of colors before the bomb tile explodes, ending your game.

Here are all of the game modes below, as well as screenshots of the tutorial and an actual gameplay shot or two!

Bomb Mode – You must solve the puzzle with the countdowns of the color bomb tiles counting down.. DOn’t let the timer expire, or your game will be over!

Time Mode – You must solve the puzzle within the time limit. If you don’t, then it’s GAME OVER for you!

Bone Mode – You must get rid of the bone at the bottom of each level by matching the correct colors! If you don’t do it, then you’ll have to try again!

Collect Mode – You need to collect a certain number of colored tiles before the timer runs out! You must do this quick, though, or else you’ll have to start all over!

Endless Mode – You can play the game for an endless amount of levels and endless amount of time. Nothing is required here, except for your time and attention!

Color Link is a pretty cool game, overall, so I think you will enjoy it. You are limited to 5 minutes of gameplay for each game with this free version. If you really like this game then you can purchase it right on the Android Market for $1.49 USD. The Market links are below, as well as the screenshots I promised you! Enjoy!

Looking to get the most out of your GPS-enabled Android device? Look no further. Below are the top five Android apps available in 2011. They represent a variety of applications from navigation to streaming music, but all share a common theme: they all will help you get the most out of your Android device by simplifying and enhancing your life.

1. Poynt. At the surface, Poynt is a GPS navigation app for Android but it is actually much more. Sure, the Google Maps app for Android is great for finding directions when you know the address of your destination, but what if you do not? That is where Poynt begins to shine. Poynt allows you to search for local businesses, movie theaters, restaurants, and even people or friends nearby. If a movie or dinner is what you are after, Poynt even allows you to buy tickets or make reservations while you are on the go.

2. Webroot. If you have ever worried about someone stealing your Android device, Webroot is the app for you. Webroot delivers its award-winning anti-virus technology to keep your phone safe from malicious threats but does much more. In the case of theft, Webroot will protect your personal data from the thief and enable you to find the device via GPS from any computer or mobile device with a web browser and internet connection. You can even remotely toggle an alarm mode to find your device if you have simply misplaced it.

3. Pandora. There is a reason that Pandora has won several of the most highly recognized awards in the industry. This app combines functionality with ease of use to deliver you streaming music, free of charge, directly to your Android device. Pandora allows you to like or dislike each song it serves up to get to know your musical tastes. It will then deliver more and more of the music you want to hear. You can create multiple stations for different styles of music, share stations with friends, and connect to your Pandora account from most internet connected devices.

4. Tango. A picture says a thousand words and with Tango you can share more than just a picture. Tango enables you to use your Android device to video chat with anyone else using Tango on a variety of devices. Tango uses your existing contact list to populate its phone book and allows you to easily switch between cameras on devices with multiple cameras. For ease of use and slick performance, Tango is the best around.

5. Dropbox. Have you ever wanted to move files such as pictures, video, or mp3 files from your Android device to other computers you own? Dropbox makes your life easier by eliminating the need to use various wires, memory cards, or other tedious methods when transferring files between devices. You make a Dropbox account, copy the files you want to your Dropbox and they are instantly accessible on any other device with internet access. You can even share your Dropbox with family and friends to allow them easy access to your files.

Although these apps have a variety of uses, they all represent the best of the best in their particular class. Pick up a few of these apps and simplify your life. After all, isn’t that what technology is for?

When he’s not using Intermedia’s Exchange Hosting, MIKE BARBRE can be found following Intermedia on Twitter and as a fan of Intermedia on Facebook.

This application will actually take away your slider and replace it with two buttons, “Answer” and “Decline”. It’s a very simple app with only a couple options that make things very simple for you, which is what we all want! Below are two screenshots of the app as well as a Market link which you can click on, from your phone, to be taken right to the app’s page in the Android Market. Enjoy!

I’ve decided to write a Parallel Kingdom Tutorial, a Parallel Kingdom Beginner’s Guide, and here’s a review of the game, a couple quick highlights, and all about it’s Platinum membership option you may choose to get. First off, if you don’t already know, Parallel kingdom is a Massively Multiplayer Online game with a playspace equivalent to every square inch of the land and water on Earth! That’s right! Parallel Kingdom uses the actual Google Map as it’s play space, allowing you to travel all over the world if you have the resources to be able to do so.

Parallel Kingdom is one of the best games I have ever laid eyes on. The number of features ranges in the hundreds and the uniqueness of this game compared to any other game I have played is phenomenal. I’ve spent dozens, if not, hundreds of hours playing this game now and I am thrilled to be able to give one of the best reviews I have ever given to an application.

One cool feature about the game is the fact that you get to gain experience and level up, making yourself stronger against Monsters and other players of the game. You can join cities and kingdoms, too, which can help for a bit of organization if you decide to go at war against another city or kingdom. The game is played in real time, meaning when you burn down a Manor and it says it takes 100 hours to fully burn down, it actually takes 100 hours.

There’s a few in-game currencies, with the most prominent one being Gold. Another perceived form of currency is Food, which players use to trade for Gold, Weapons, Armor, or other vanity items such as Statues, Seasonal Items and more. Food is obtained from mentoring new users, trading in Trade Posts, sometimes rewarded in Daily Drawings and more. Food is used to increase your level, and can also be bought with cash.

You’re not only restricted to land either. You can go onto any body of water and hunt or claim territory! Both land and water have unique items such as mines and monsters. The only thing you cannot do on water is build a house. A lot of players say that it pays better to go water hunting, so once you’ve joined and read our tutorials, feel free to hop into a chat room in the game and ask for a water hunting invite if you’re too far away! That’s right, there’s chat rooms, too!

The final, and best feature we will touch on is the ability to upgrade your account to a Platinum membership. For less than a quarter a day, you can gain abilities that only Platinum members have. You are able to create a second vacation home, you receive free Platinum bars which are used to craft special items, some of which only Platinum members can use. Also, Platinum members receive their own special chat room and the ability to modify their in-game profile with colors, more text, a photo of yourself, and much more! There are more features of the Platinum membership that Parallel Kingdom has to offer, but we won’t spoil all of them here.

Go to the Android Market and search for Parallel Kingdom today! Below is a Market Link to get you there fast, if you’re on your Android phone!

Market Link to Parallel Kingdom

Also, if you use the referral code mtoib, you will receive 1000 gold to get you started in the game!

The game Parallel Kingdom is a Massively Multiplayer Online game that uses the actual world map provided by Google for your gameplay area. We’ve decided to write a guide for you to give you a beginner’s explanation of how to play the game, things to do and things to avoid, as well as beginning to create your territory and acquiring materials. Once you’re done reading this guide, you should have a better idea of how Parallel Kingdom is played, and you’ll have at least one new friend, too!

So, first off, when you download and install Parallel Kingdom from the Android Market, you will be prompted to create a username and password. Choose your name wisely because you only get one account per device, and the item you need to change your username in the game, called a Name Change Scroll, is pretty expensive.

Once you complete the signup process, you will be guided through a tutorial which will help you learn the following things:

how to navigate in the game

how to attack monsters

how to pick up items

how to build flags

how to heal yourself when in battle

When you begin the tutorial, you start off inside of a house with a weapon laying on the floor. You are asked to double tap an arrow on your screen, which moves your character. This is the first thing you learn, is how to move your character around the screen. If you see something you want, just double-tap by it and your character will move to it. Also, you’re able to move your screen around to see different parts of the map and some of your surroundings, with more to see at higher levels. Second thing you learn is how to pick up items. The weapon on the floor, you’re asked to pick up. Tap the item, and press ‘Pickup‘.

The next thing you learn is how to equip a weapon to use during battles. Press your Menu button, then press Items. In that screen you will see everything you currently have. Everything you pick up or find will be located here. Tap the line with your Weapon you picked up, then press ‘Equip‘. Now you have a sword that you can kill monsters with. Following your on-screen instructions, press your Back button to leave that menu, then tap the door on the house you are in, and select Exit.

Now you’re outside. You see the house you just exited, a red circle and a red flag. Double tap on the flag to move to it. Once you move to the flag, your first Monster appears, which is a Stag. To attack the Stag, you tap on it once, then press Attack. Your character will move to it and begin to attack it. The battle happens in turns, with you hitting the monster, then the monster hits you. The battle continues until one of you die, or you run away (depending on the monster, it may follow you!).

So, you’ve killed the Stag, and it dropped an item. That item is Leather. Tap the Leather once, then press Pickup. You now have a piece of Leather in your inventory. You can use this Leather to build and craft multiple things throughout the game, with the most prominent thing being creating Flags, which mark your territory. But, back to the tutorial. Each time you kill a Monster you get a couple things: Gold and Pages. Pages are like experience points, you accumulate them and when you have enough, you can level up. In the bottom left of your screen you can find your Pages and Gold counts. Right now, tap the white bar that says Pages: x/1000. That will take you to a screen with many different skills you can learn. These skills cost Skill Points, which are awarded when you level up each time.

Right now, you have one skill point, and you’re asked to press Alchemy, at the top of the list. Once you go into the Alchemy screen, you see 3 levels of Alchemy you can spend your points on. For this Skill, as well as all others, you have to go in order of level. So, if you want to get to Level 3 Alchemy, you first need to get Levels 1 and 2. You’re instructed to press the box next to Level 1, so do that. It asks you to confirm that you want to spend a Skill Point on Alchemy Level 1. Press Yes. Now, you’re able to craft Rolly’s Serum and Halvar’s Resin. We’ll explain a bit more later. For now, press back to get to the screen in which you see your character.

You’re asked to tap the Flag above you, and select Visit (cost: 2 Roc Feathers). Select it. Your character’s movement radius will now center on this flag. Your radius of movement is just a bit larger than your screen unless you are on a tablet or some other large device. You can chop any trees, kill any monsters, or burn any flags in your radius of movement. But for now, we need to ‘hop a flag’. Scroll your screen to the right to see the next flag, then press the flag. Select Visit (cost: 2 Roc Feathers). Problem is, once you move to the flag, you are told you need more Roc Feathers to visit that flag.

Roc Feathers are your travel currency, so to speak. Each time you need to go somewhere new, it will cost you some Roc Feathers. If you don’t have any, you won’t be able to go where you want to go. You can buy Roc Feathers from any Trolls or Troll Huts in your range of movement. Just tap one and choose an option to Buy x Roc Feathers, and you’ll be able to get more feathers as long as you have enough gold. Right now, you’ll see a Troll below you. Tap the Troll and buy 10 Roc Feathers from him. Once you buy the Roc Feathers, press the Flag again and select Visit.

Now, in this area, you will see a green tree with a red thing on top. This is called a Mourning Tree, and the red thing is a Berry. Both items heal you if you lose some health, which is displayed in the bottom right corner of your screen, labeled HP: xx/100. If you move close enough to a Mourning Tree, it will begin to heal you. You can also tap the Mourning Tree and select Harvest Berry to collect the Berry from the tree. We’ll explain more on the Berry and Mourning Tree later. Right now, tap the next Flag to your right and select Visit.

This screen shows a silver bar on the ground below you. This is a Dog Whistle. The Dog Whistle allows you to call your pet to hunt. Hunting allows you to find unclaimed territory to build your House, make Flags, hunt, or whatever you want. The Hunting Dog only stays with you for an hour at a time, and after that time is up, he needs to go home to rest. The duration of time between hunts increases each time you use your dog, so use him wisely. You’re able to reset this duration by feeding him, but we don’t want to bother with that right now. We need our Food for something else. Pick up the Dog Whistle. Now, you’re asked to go into your Items list, so press Menu, then press Items. You need to call your dog to hunt, now, so press the Dog Whistle and select Call Dog To Hunt.

In order to walk your dog you need to tap your dog once he appears, and press Walk Dog. Walking your dog costs 3 Roc Feathers, but every time you do it he will take you to new, unclaimed territory. In this land, you can build flags to claim the territory. Before we do that, though, we see a Dragon and need to try to kill it. Press on the Dragon and select Attack. You begin attacking the Dragon, and your dog helps attack, too, but the Dragon kills you and your dog because he is stronger than you. Each time you die, there’s a consequence, we will explain later. One of those consequences is you have to wait 15 seconds to respawn. Once you respawn, tap on the Dragon and press Info to learn more about it. The Info screen will explain all about the Monster you are learning about, and it will also let you know what weapons are best to use against it, as well as what items the Monster may drop. Read the info about the Dragon, then press back to go back to your character. We want to call our dog again, so go into your Items, select the Dog Whistle, and then select Call Dog to Hunt. Walk your Dog again, by pressing your Dog and selecting Walk Dog.

The screen then prompts you and lets you know that there is a Library nearby. Libraries are places that you can normally study at. Studying gains you a lot of Pages, but at a cost. Right now, we’re not worried about studying. We want to move the screen up so you can see further down on the map. Double tap to move as close to the library as you can.

Here comes the fun! You get to build a Flag! Each Flag you build costs you some resources which you earn through hunting and chopping down trees. For the tutorial you are given the materials you need. Press Menu, then Create. Press Build, then Flag. You will begin building your first Flag! It’s really that simple! Every time you’re on unclaimed territory, you can build flags to claim the territory for yourself if you have the materials to do so. Once you build this flag, tap it and select Visit. Now, your range of movement allows you to get closer to the library. By the library you see the Monk you’ve been searching for, which will send you out into the real world and off Tutorial Island. Tap the Monk and select Start Journey!

The Monk asks for a referral code. If you want, feel free to use our Referral Code, which is mtoib . This earns you 1000 gold to start out with!!

Now, we will learn about Food. After you enter your referral code, you are asked to go into your Items menu to learn about the Food you have. Each new character is given 300 food to use. You’re asked to tap your Food, then press Info to learn about it. To make a long story short, your Food is about the most important thing to have on Parallel Kingdom. Food allows you to Level Up, which will award you Skill Points to use to learn new Skills that we explained to you earlier. Later on, we will give you a guide to what skills to learn first and other helpful tips. You’re also able to sell different things for Food too. As of this point in time (2/25/2011), you can normally sell 1 Leather for 2 Food, and 1 Wood for 2 Food. Those are the most common things for you to get and sell if you ever need Food, which will happen once you need to get to Level 5. There are 30 total Levels in Parallel Kingdom, and each time you need to Level Up, it costs you 80 Food. Starting out it is highly recommended you save the Food you have so you can Level Up when you need to do it.

Now, go back to your character’s screen. It’s time to Leave Tutorial Island forever, and be sent out into the real world to begin your Journey through the animated world called Parallel Kingdom! To leave Tutorial Island and be taken to your real life location, press Menu then Relocate. Your phone’s GPS will locate you, then it will tell you a new location was found. Press Preview to make sure it’s pretty accurate for the next steps. If it’s not accurate, press cancel then try to relocate again. Depending on your phone or location, it may take a few tries. Once your location is accurate enough for you, press Move Here.

Congratulations! You have now successfully walked through the tutorial to Parallel Kingdom and are now in the real world! Now, we will give you a Parallel Kingdom Beginner’s Guide.

We assume that you have read through our Parallel Kingdom Tutorial Guide which explains the Parallel Kingdom tutorial in depth. Now, we are going to give you a custom Beginner’s Guide that will teach you a lot of things that you really need to know, to be successful in the game!

When you get out of the tutorial and into the real world, you are assigned a random Mentor. Sometimes they can be helpful, sometimes they can be worthless… it depends. If your Mentor offers to help you, accept it by all means! Sometimes they help you out with good Weapons and Armor, maybe some Gold or even supplies you will need in the future. Mentors get a bit of an incentive for helping you learn the game, so if they help you out well, make sure you answer the survey you get in a few days with a positive review!

On to the first, and most important, thing you need to do right now. We need to build a Log Cabin, which is your safe haven. You won’t be able to enter your cabin until you upgrade it into a Manor. We will explain that in a moment. Right now, we need to build the Log Cabin first. We suggest that you build your Log Cabin at the location you will be at most, such as your real home. You should be very close to that place on your map now. If not, press Menu then Relocate, which should locate you very near your home or wherever you are right now. Once you are where you want to be, if the land is not claimed by a flag, you can build your Cabin. If the land IS claimed, however, you will need to call your Hunting Dog and walk him so you can find some unclaimed territory. This may take a while if you’re from a big city. You may need to hop several flags and try your dog again to find unclaimed land.

Once you find that unclaimed land, you need to find a tree and chop it down. Right now, we want to avoid chopping down Mourning Trees because Trolls will come and attack you if they see you chopping their trees down. Find a brown dead-looking tree, called a Dusk Tree, and chop that down. Move away from it or use a Berry if it makes your HP go too low. To use a Berry, tap your character and press Heal.

Once you chop down one tree, the game will give you some more materials to build your Log Cabin. On unclaimed territory, find a spot where you would like to have your Cabin and press Menu, then Create, then Build, then Log Cabin. It will take 15 seconds, then you have a nice little Log Cabin that you can come back to. Next thing you need to do is walk your dog and chop trees. Each time our dog finds new land, chop down all of the trees you can, avoiding the Mourning Trees. If your health gets too low, always run near a Mourning Tree. Also, harvest the berries off every Mourning Tree you see. They’re always helpful to heal you during battle with a Monster!

Once you have accumulated 20 Wood, return to you Log Cabin by pressing Menu, then Estates, then Log Cabin. This will cost you a couple feathers but whenever you need to jump back to your cabin it’s always only 3 clicks away. Each time you visit a new city center, or a trade post, it will show up in your Estates menu for easy future returns. Once you have returned to your Log Cabin, we want to upgrade it onto a Manor. Tap you Log Cabin, and select the option to Upgrade it. This will take a minute but when you’re done you will finally be able to go inside of your house!

Before you enter your house, you should build yourself a flag to claim the land your house is on. You do this by pressing Menu, then Create, then Build, then Flag. If you do not have enough resources (3 wood, 3 leather) you will need to call your Dog again to hunt. This time, kill any Stag, Boar, or Dire Wolf you come across, which all may drop leather. Once you get 3 leather, chop down 3 trees. Then, go to your Estates menu and return to your house, which is now labeled Manor. Build a flag near your Manor. Once it’s built, set it to Private so nobody can come onto your land. Tap the Flag and select Set to Private. Do the same for your Manor. Now, enter your Manor by tapping it and selecting Enter. Inside of here, you can drop any extra stuff you don’t want to carry. It’s good for storing excess items so you can sell them later, use them later, or just create a huge stockpile. Be careful though, if someone does get close enough to your house, they can set it on fire. You then have 100 hours to put the fire out and repair your manor.

Once you’ve built your Manor and built one flag, it might be a good idea to go hunting again. Kill any animals you come across and pick up the things they drop. Watch your carrying capacity though, below your HP. If it gets too full and you die, you will drop items which you will have to pick up when you respawn again. Troodonts and Dragons drop backpacks, which increase your carrying capacity, so be sure to kill them every chance you get. Also, the Monsters you kill drop weapons, You can begin to gain more gold by picking up these weapons, then dropping them for gold. Tap any weapon a Monster drops, then tap Pick Up. Then, once you run out of room to pick up any more, or if you don’t have any more to pick up, go to your Items list, then tap the weapons you want to drop, then press Dump for xx Gold. Always do this for extra gold. If you get tired of it, it’s okay, you don’t have to do it forever. We’re just giving you tips to get on your feet the fastest.

Next thing you might want to do is make some friends. Press Menu, then Chat, then place a check mark next to Help Chat, then click the name. It will open a chat room that a lot of players talk to each other in, and you can find some good friends there, too. You can always watch what people say on your main game screen because the chat displays one line of text above the gameplay screen.

Now, about weapons. There’s several basic weapons you will need in your journey. When you start out, you are given a sword. Each weapon has a “health” level, so to speak. Once it reaches 0, it breaks. When you did your tutorial, however, you were asked to select Alchemy Level 1, which is a skill to create Halvar’s Resin, used to repair your weapons. In order to create Halvar’s Resin, you will need Great Fern sap and Larva Meat. You probably have already seen Great Ferns and collected their sap out of curiosity. You can also chop those down for wood, and they don’t take your HP way either! Larva, on the other hand are tougher monsters to kill, but they pay off well. They gain +2HP after every few seconds, so make sure you try to kill them fast. They usually drop Larva Meat and a couple weapons which you can pick up then drop for gold. To create Halvar’s Resin, press Menu, then Create, then Halvar’s Resin. Select how many you can make based on the resources you have available, then make it. Each 1 unit you make, makes 5 Halvar’s resin, so it’s a good idea to have at least 2 Larva Meat and 2 Great Fern Sap to start. Once you make the Halvar’s Resin, go to your Menu, then Items, select the weapon you want/need to repair, then repair however much you want.

Next thing to do is learn how to level up your weapons. In your Items menu, you will see something like this: Sword +0 100%. The +0 is the level of weapon. These go from 0 to 24, and each time you want to level it up, the cost gets higher. In order to level the weapon up, you tap the weapon you want to level up, then select Upgrade. This costs gold, so make sure you have enough. Upgrading a weapon makes it stronger, and it causes more harm to enemies than the previous level. If your weapon ‘breaks’ (goes to 0%), it loses one level if it’s +1 or above. If it’s a +0 weapon, it vanishes. So, use that Halvar’s Resin and watch your weapons. They flash red when they’re at 10% or lower, so it won’t be a surprise if one breaks.

On to Monsters. Each monster has it’s own different strength and weakness. Each time you encounter a monster, you can find out what weapons will kill it the fastest. Tap the monster then press Info, which will give you information about the monster as well as what weapons to use against it, and what items it may drop when you kill it. You’ll get used to knowing what to use against certain monsters after a while.

Trade Posts are places where people buy and sell different items ranging from weapons to gathered items to crafted items and more. This is the safest way to buy and sell items. There’s a lot fo people on Parallel Kingdom that take advantage of new people, and they ask them to ‘drop trade’, meaning they’ll invite you to their location or vice versa, and you’re supposed to drop your item before they pay you. This is usually a scam so until you get to know who to trust and who not to trust, only use Trade Posts. Happy Valley is one of the most popular ones, so be sure to go into chat and ask for an invite to inside the Happy Valley trade post. It should only cost you 2 Roc Feathers to accept. If not, then I’d ask someone else to send you the invite.

Occasionally you will come across stone mines and iron mines. You might want to mine them if they don’t cost over 50-75 gold. These resources can become very useful in the future. They can be used to build add-ons to your Manor, harden flags (which take longer to burn), as well as other things throughout the game.

I think that pretty much covers it for the beginner’s guide to get you started. Feel free to leave any comments here on how I can improve this guide for you!

We’re going to help you back up your phone, its apps and data, before you root your phone, wipe the device, or whatever it is you plan to do to your phone. First off, you will need to download 2 files, located here.

Once you download the 2 files, follow the next steps below. If you do not have the Android SDK installed, you’ll need to follow the guide on How To Install Android SDK. It opens in a new window so you can come back here when finished.

If you already have the SDK installed, then move the 2 files you just downloaded into your C:\Android\platform-tools folder.

Once those files are moved, plug your phone into your computer using the provided USB cable. Make sure USB debugging is enabled, as well as the option to install applications from unknown sources.

Open a command prompt, and type in the following commands:

cd C:\Android\platform-tools
adb install com.rerware.android.MyBackupPro.apk
adb install AppMonster-Pro-1.7.0.apk

Unplug your phone now. You’ve installed the 2 backup apps we have provided for you. Go into your app drawer, open up AppMonster. When that app opens, back up all your applications. Once that is finished, open MyBackup Pro. Press NO to the screen asking you to update, then press BACKUP. Press DATA. Check all. Then back it all up. Now, you’re finished with your backups and are able to restore your applications and data when you get done doing whatever you need to do.

To restore, follow this guide from the beginning, to reinstall the apps to your phone, then use the RESTORE options instead of the backup options. Enjoy!

3G Watchdog is an excellent android application that enables you to monitor your mobile data usage. It includes three different colored icons (red, orange and green) that may appear in your taskbar to alert you to your current usage, and whether or not you are reaching a pre-specified limit that you can adjust in the settings page. The application also includes a very detailed reports page that can break down your usage by the past day, week and month, as well as let you know how much internet you would use throughout the rest of the month based on your current usage average. Sliding down the taskbar shows you a mini report that gives you a visual meter reading of your current month’s internet usage as well as a numeric reading, too. The application also includes two different widgets that you can place on your home screen so you can monitor your usage right from there, without having to open the app every time you want to do a quick check.

For anyone who may be on a limited usage data plan, this application can definitely help you stay within your quota. Just browse to this page on your Android phone then click on the Market link below to be taken directly to the download page in the market for this application. Enjoy!
