Here’s an excellent application made specifically for the Samsung Moment users who want to use a wireless tether option on their Moments. This application features a nice desktop widget, so you can turn Wifi Tether on and off without having to even open the app. This application also offers an ‘underclock’ option so your phone won’t lock up or lose internet connection, and the ‘underclock’ is only active while tethering. We all should know by now that the Moment suffers from data lockup, meaning your internet just freezes or seems to be stuck in uploading mode or something, and this option will help minimize that issue. Inside the application, there’s also an option to show the temperature of your phone, in Celsius of Fahrenheit. Now for the good stuff:

You need to have a wireless tethering enabled kernel to use this application. If you need a kernel, head over to the Samsung Moment Kernels page and get yourself one, now!

This application can be found on the market or you can download it here. You can install this application right from your SD card using a file manager.

Known Issues

- SetCPU profiles may override underclocking. Either disable SetCPU profiles when tethering or use SetCPU to underclock.
- Phone occasionally will freeze if you toggle wifi tether on/off repeatedly or too quickly. Battery pull necessary.
- The CDMA lockups which occur on the Moment in general affect this app as well. Use the underclocking feature.

If you’ve been looking for a way to use your Android phone’s internet connection on your computer, then here is a solution for you. This company called June Fabrics has produced an app called PDANet, which enables you to use your Android phone’s internet on your computer. You don’t have to worry about paying your carrier a ton of extra money for ‘phone as modem (PAM)’ and whatever else they want you to pay for. PDANet is free for you for 30 days, then if you don’t upgrade it, you can still use the internet for free, but you won’t be able to use any websites that are secured (requiring you to log in, etc).

Here’s a little chart that will show you some features of PDANet!

Features

Free

Paid

Share Mobile Phone Internet With Computer

YES

YES

Access Email, Download Music, etc.

YES

YES

Does Full Access to the Internet Expire?

30 DAYS

NEVER

The free version of PDAnet will block you from using any secure websites after 30 days, in which you can purchase a license to continue using the full functionality of the program. When I purchased the license, it was $23.95 USD, but right now it is only $18.95, and when you purchase the license, you never have to pay them again! So, without further ado, here come the ways you can obtain PDAnet.

You can head over to get the PDAnet program for your computer (yes, there is a download for both your phone and computer which you need) by going to junefabrics.com, and on your Android Device, search for ‘PDAnet Free Edition’.

TIP: Once you get PDAnet installed on your Android phone and your computer, you should be able to turn on PDAnet on your phone by pressing ‘Enable USB Tether’, and connecting to the phone on the desktop by right clicking the PDAnet icon in your taskbar and selecting ‘Connect’.
